Was the ICCU issue fixed for the Hyundai Ioniq 6?

My question is about the Hyundai Ioniq 6: how bad was the issue with the ICCU in this model in Ireland and has the issue being rectified for the newer models?

Hi Will,

Hyundai Ireland carried out a voluntary recall in 2024 for certain Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models because of the Integrated Charging Control Unit, or ICCU.

This unit – as you probably know - charges the car's 12-volt battery and powers low-voltage electrical systems. The official Irish recall notice says the ICCU may be damaged under certain electrical load conditions, which can open the ICCU fuse.

If the car is then driven for an extended distance in fail-safe mode, it could eventually lose motive power.

The Irish recall covered 3,846 vehicles in total, but that figure is for Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 combined, not Ioniq 6 alone.

For the Ioniq 6, the Irish recall applied to cars produced between 28 September 2022 and 4 March 2024 and it's believed that, while all recalled cars were subjected to a software upgrade, only some had to have hardware changes.

Since the issue was discovered and a software fix found, all cars produced at the factory featured the upgraded software.
