Rumours suggest that the Chinese brand, Geely, will hit the Irish market in 2027 and in preparation, we've already driven several of the marque's cars. Propping up the range is the Geely EX2 EV, and the oddly named Starray EM-i will keep those that want a plug-in hybrid happy, but we reckon the Geely EX5 will be its biggest seller. Renault revealed the spectacular electric Renault 8 Gordini concept. Inspired by the 1964 original, the two-seat coupe mixes double white stripes, squared wheelarches and six-light front end with a low, wide stance. Power comes from a rear-mounted 270hp electric motor, while mixed-size wheels add to the motorsport look. It’s called an exploratory design study rather than a production car (but OMG we are crossing our fingers) and makes its public debut at the Renault Carwalk on 24 September before appearing at the Paris Motor Show from 12-18 October.

Opel has confirmed that its new estate-car show car will be called the STX Concept, short for Sports Tourer eXperimental. Set to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show, the STX will preview Opel’s next-generation design language and its vision for the future of the estate car. It will be revealed at Opel’s press conference on Monday, 12 October. We’ll be there to check it out in the metal for ourselves.

Dave Humphreys was on air with George Lawlor TD this morning on Newstalk’s The Claire Byrne Show to discuss how two static speed cameras have accounted for almost 70 per cent of all fines issued nationwide. The cameras, located on the N25 at Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny, and on the N80 in Co. Carlow, have both been described as having inadequate signage to warn drivers of the change in speed limit ahead.
