The Nissan Z Kaze concept has made its debut at ZCON in Arizona, giving the Z sports car a removable T-top roof inspired by Nissan’s open-air models of the past. Finished in Pacific Teal, it also gets a carbon-fibre bonnet and body kit, widened arches, restored 18-inch Nismo LMGT2 wheels and a white leather cabin. The twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 gains a GReddy intake, intercooler and exhaust upgrades, while Nismo suspension components complete the ’90s tuner-inspired makeover. Sadly, the Nissan Z still is not available to buy in Ireland.

The electric Nissan Micra has been awarded Green NCAP’s maximum five-star Sustainability Rating, scoring 94 per cent overall. It achieved 9.1/10 for Clean Air, 9.3/10 for Energy Efficiency and 10/10 for Greenhouse Gases, while its cold-weather performance was rated “Good”. The Micra is offered with 40kWh and 52kWh batteries, giving up to 317km and 416km of WLTP range respectively, and Nissan quotes energy consumption as low as 12.6kWh/100km.

Rumours suggest that the Chinese brand, Geely, will hit the Irish market in 2027 and in preparation, we've already driven several of the marque's cars. Propping up the range is the Geely EX2 EV, and the oddly named Starray EM-i will keep those that want a plug-in hybrid happy, but we reckon the Geely EX5 will be its biggest seller. Renault revealed the spectacular electric Renault 8 Gordini concept. Inspired by the 1964 original, the two-seat coupe mixes double white stripes, squared wheelarches and six-light front end with a low, wide stance. Power comes from a rear-mounted 270hp electric motor, while mixed-size wheels add to the motorsport look. It’s called an exploratory design study rather than a production car (but OMG we are crossing our fingers) and makes its public debut at the Renault Carwalk on 24 September before appearing at the Paris Motor Show from 12-18 October.
