Is a second-hand engine a good idea?

Hi,

The timing belt went on my Citroen C5 so the mechanic said to replace it with a second-hand engine which will cost up to 2,000 Euros. How do I know if the mechanic will get a good second-hand engine for me?

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure with a second-hand engine unless it has been reconditioned or it comes with a warranty.
