Is the wet belt in a 2022 Ford Focus a problem?
I bought a 2022 Ford Focus petrol ST line MHEV early this year and since have seen reports etc that the wet oil pump belt being rubber is causing problems. However I saw that the mild-hybrid model has a chain and not a rubber belt. Have you any information on this problem?
Many thanks

Where to sell my Qashqai that needs a new turbo?
I have a 142 Nissan Qashqai with what I believe to have a blown turbo in it.
I'm wondering where is the best place to try and sell this as is and what price am I looking at getting for this? From what I'm told it will cost roughly €2,500 to replace the turbo and I'm just not willing to put that kind of money into it.
I need to replace the car but would need to sell this first to come up with some kind of deposit.

Looking for a non-SUV hybrid...
I'm interested in a hybrid but live in the country near Ennistymon. Lots of short trips and frequent ones to Galway. It needs to be comfortable for three people and not a SUV.

Are Lotus, Morgan and GWM still on sale in Ireland?
Hi,
Just wondering if Lotus, Morgan and Great Wall are still available new on the Irish market or have they withdrawn. No new sales for Lotus or GWM this year yet and only one for Morgan.
Thank you

Which tax rate for an imported 2004 Toyota Hilux?
Hi,
I hope to import a 2004 Toyota Hilux 2.4 D-4D from the UK. Can you tell me if I would pay motor tax by engine size? Or would it be classed as being first registered upon the year of import, say next year, therefore I'd pay motor tax based on its emissions?

Can I avail of the Transfer of Residence process?
Hi,
I'm moving back to Ireland after five years living in the UK and want to avail of the Transfer of Residency VRT exemption.
I am also registered in Ireland as a sole trader in the motor trade and complete Irish VAT and income tax returns annually. The Irish work is mostly vehicle repairs which I sub out to a third party and occasionally fly home myself to complete the work.
Do you think this will impact my chances and should I put all the vehicles (three of them) into my partner's name who has no affiliation with Irish tax system or the motor trade?
Appreciate any advice you may have as it's not clearly laid out by Revenue.
Thank you

With this dealer paperwork from NI, will I pay VAT?
I am purchasing a car from Northern Ireland to import into the Republic of Ireland. The dealership in NI purchased this car on 18.06.2025 and has the customs documentation from mainland GB. The V5C is also available. Will I be liable for VAT if I purchase this car?

What paperwork is needed to import a car from the North?
Hi,
I recently bought a car in NI. Registered in my name, just waiting on papers. But I live in Republic of Ireland and want to register there. How does this work? What papers will I need?
Thanks
