Tesla Model 3 or Xpeng G6 for my first EV?

I'm in the process of buying my first EV and would love some advice.

I have a Tesla Model 3 Premium booked (delivery estimate is three to four months), but I'm also considering the Xpeng G6. I really like the G6's SUV shape, interior quality, tech features and fast charging.

The G6 is quoted at around 470km of range. I mostly drive around Dublin day to day, with eight to ten summer trips around Ireland of about 300-400km.

What I like about the Model 3 is the tech and features like Sentry Mode, the dashcam and the blind-spot camera when indicating.

What I'm unsure about with the G6 is the range and long-term resale value. Tesla has also released lots of new OTA features.

The price difference is €3,000. Your recommendation and view please?

Hi Nitheesha,

I prefer how the Model 3 drives and it is more efficient (that's energy consumption, not range) than the Xpeng in the real world, but the G6 has a far nicer interior and a more practical boot opening.

Over-the-air updates are not unique to Tesla – most carmakers do them.

The Xpeng G6 has the same blind-spot camera system and even its own Sentry Mode as the Tesla, too, so those aren't reasons to go for the Model 3 alone.

The entry-level G6's range is 470km, but there is a long-range model as well if you felt you needed more (its range is 525km), but we'd suggest it's not worth spending more on something you would only benefit from a few times a year. On those occasions, using a public charger won't be the end of the world.

Best advice we can give you is to make sure you test drive both cars properly before you decide.
