I am looking at a 2008 Audi A3 1.9 TDI. Is €18,950 good value for an example with 18,900 miles on the clock?

Hello Ken,
For that sort of mileage it is a small bit less than you might normally be asked to pay for a diesel A3, but this would depend on whether it was a private sale or from a main dealer.
I'd say you would expect to pay €19,500 for one from a main dealer, with a private sale or independent dealer costing about €1,000 less. Remember, if you aren't trading in, you should expect you to get a decent discount off this asking price.
Hope this helps!

Hi Ken, I don't know if that is an especially good deal.
Is the car still on English plates and have you seen all the right paperwork for the car?
You would need to see a full service history and do a background check on it. Our partners at motorcheck.ie would be a good service to use for that.
You need to look at the cost to change. I think you could push for an extra €500 - €1,000 off that deal. I think they can do a little better. Push for €13,750 to change. Don't be afraid to walk away, as there are loads of A3 diesels around!

Thanks Paddy.
My daughter is buying the Audi which has an English reg. The garage (Citroen dealer) will give her €4,500 for her 2001 VW Beetle with 76,000 miles. This means that she will have to pay €14,450 for the Audi.
What do you think?
