Which mid-sized plug-in-hybrid SUV to go for?

I'm in the market for a plug-in-hybrid SUV (PHEV), typically 2023 or newer but would go for a 2022 with low mileage.

My main criteria are comfort and ride quality as I'm travelling substantially on rural roads. At the moment the benchmark is a BMW X5, but it is a way bigger car than I need.

Do any of the mid-size SUVs (X3, Merc GLC, Lexus NX etc.) come anywhere close to the comfort and road holding of the X5 or is the air suspension tech in the X5 something that the others just can't compete against?

Can I buy a short warranty for an imported Audi A6?

Buying a 2016 Audi A6 in the UK and bringing back to Ireland. Is there a warranty I can purchase (even for three months) that will cover the first few months here in Ireland to give me a chance to register the car etc?

It has 67,000 miles on the clock and full service history stamped by Audi, one owner, no issues as have done full vehicle check online. The warranty would have to cover UK and Ireland for three months.

How is BIK on an EV applied over several years?

The €45,000 BIK relief is applied once in 2025 on the purchase of an electric vehicle, therefore does the same relief of €45,000 remain valid on the same electric vehicle in future years?

What's up with my Peugeot 307 HDi?

My Peugeot 307 HDi wagon (370,000km on the clock) still runs beautifully but comes up with various faults. Some cause it to derate, others cause the cruise control to not function. Examples include turbo overboost, EGR sensor malfunction, depollution system faulty, air-conditioning refrigerant low, electronic circuit high voltage, etc.

Any word on what could be causing all this?

I am totally lost as to how to stop this occurring.

Do I need a Single Administrative Document for importing?

Ever hear of anyone needing SAD (Single Administrative Document) for the VRT centre when you arrive with the car to prove taxes paid to be exempt from VAT and import duty? It's a 242 Honda CR-V from the UK, shipped under the Windsor framework via NI and have HMRC Supplementary Declaration and the V5C.

Will I owe VAT on this motor home if I import it?

Hi,

I bought a motor home in Northern Ireland that has been used there for the previous five years. It did not leave the State, but the owner transferred the v5c document to his GB address. When I VRT it now in Ireland will I be liable to pay VAT as it's technically back in the GB?

Any update on the Irish Kia EV5 lineup?

Any update on the Kia EV5? There seems to be plenty of info about the European spec, even suggesting an AWD version might be available in some markets. Can we assume Kia Ireland will do the usual of offering the basic front-wheel-drive underpowered motor, no GT-S line spec with a really limited range of colours?

Looking to order a DS No.8 for January!

Hi,

I intend to order a fully electric car for January 2026 and top of my list is the DS No. 8. At the moment I cannot view it in Ireland but as I travel a lot on the Continent, I would be able to view it there. Do you know where I could see it? I am also going to the car show in September in Munich but don't know if it will be on view.
