Nissan Qashqai Mk2 (2014-2021) used car buying guide

Can I fit child seats and a buggy in the Nissan Qashqai Mk2?

With a 430-litre boot and a focus on family practicality, the Qashqai will take pushchairs and prams in the boot if needs be, but getting three child seats across the second row of the vehicle will be unlikely. However, it's not impossible, as the Qashqai Mk2 has wide base squabs in the back of the car, so if you've got physically smaller child seats then they might all fit side-by-side, although bear in mind there are only two ISOFIX points in the back, on the outer two chairs.

The Nissan's split-folding rear seats are easy to use and fold down quickly to give access to an 860-litre cargo area, which isn't the largest in the world but which remains pretty useable, thanks to the Qashqai's flat loading floor and boot-lip aperture.

How safe is the Nissan Qashqai Mk2?

With a good range of active and passive safety kit, the Qashqai Mk2 is a safe car and it duly picked up the top five-star EuroNCAP rating when it was tested in its launch year of 2014. It turned in scores of 88 per cent for adult occupant safety, 83 per cent for child occupant safety, 69 per cent for pedestrian protection and 79 per cent for safety assist. All models feature at least six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP and a tyre-pressure monitoring system as standard, with Nissan's Safety Shield roster of options for more advanced and active driver aids available for an extra fee(s) on base models, and standard-fit on higher-spec cars.
