Lamborghini hypercar's V12 fires into life

Video reveals the astonishing noise of the V12 in Lamborghini's track-only hypercar.

Prepare to set your neck hairs to 'tingle' - this is the forthcoming track-only Lamborghini Squadra Corse hypercar's outrageous 830hp, 6.5-litre V12 engine firing up. And the noises are quite something...

Expensive track toy

The as-yet-unnamed hypercar, due to be revealed before the end of the year, was first mooted at the World Finals event of the Super Trofeo racing series held at Jerez, Spain, in 2019. This hypercar will not be ratified for use in global motorsport, instead being a non-road-legal track toy only for the very lucky, and very rich, few who can afford something as extravagant as this in their garage.

The engine is a derivation of the one from the monster Aventador, and Lamborghini Squadra Corse says it carries a number of features which differ from the company's road-car range - such as a large rear spoiler, an airscoop on the roof, a racing bonnet with dual air intakes, an aluminium front subframe, a carbon-fibre monocoque and an innovative self-locking type differential, which is claimed to allow better driveability on the circuit.

But enough of the extemporising, for now. That V12, in a skeletal chassis that has to be shackled to the rolling road for this video, carried out its first fire-up in the Sant'Agata Bolognese factory of Lamborghini Squadra Corse this week. So here, for you delectation and enjoyment, is an all-too-brief video of that mighty motor in action. Turn up the sound on this one and get some decent speakers for your viewing device, if you haven't already...
