Stretched 'baby' Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce has extended the wheelbase of its Ghost for the Chinese market.

A long wheelbase version of the Rolls-Royce Ghost has been launched at the Shanghai motor show. It has a 170mm stretched wheelbase, though the car is only 35mm longer overall than the standard Ghost.

The extra length in the wheelbase provides more legroom in the rear seats, so the Ghost Extended Wheelbase (EWB) now has 330mm of knee room compared to the standard model's 160mm.

Rolls says the Ghost EWB will be its most popular model in China and the Ghost EWB is the first car ever from Rolls to make its world debut in Asia.

Standard equipment for the Ghost EWB includes a panoramic glass sunroof to make the cabin more airy, while outside the Ghost EWB has a new design of forged alloy wheel.

Rolls-Royce has yet to confirm prices for the Ghost EWB, but it's thought the longer car will add around 20 per cent to the cost of the standard Ghost.
