Yangwang U9 Xtreme breaks 500km/h barrier to set new world record

Published

BYD's Yangwang brand has broken the 500km/h barrier with its all-electric U9 Xtreme, recording 503.17km/h on a closed public road in Abu Dhabi. Racing driver Marc Basseng was at the wheel of the 3,019hp, four-motor hypercar, which has now secured Guinness World Records for the fastest production car and fastest electric production car.

The U9 Xtreme also uses a 1,200-volt electrical architecture, active suspension and specially developed Giti tyres. Just 30 examples will be built, with buyers already finalising specifications. There is still no sign of the Yangwang brand coming to Ireland.
