Alfa Romeo teases new concept for 2026 Paris motor show

Alfa Romeo will unveil a new concept car at the 2026 Paris motor show, promising a glimpse of the brand’s future direction. Still under wraps, the concept is said to combine Italian design, performance and driving involvement, with red playing a central role in its identity. Alfa describes it as a car “every Alfisti has long been waiting for” which means it’s gotta be a coupe, right?! The reveal takes place on 12 October, with the concept on display at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles until 18 October. We’ll be there…

Nissan X-Trail N-Trek debuts at 'The Ploughing'

Nissan Ireland gave the new off-road-themed X-Trail N-Trek its Irish debut at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan in Co. Offaly this week. In this video, Shane has a very quick look at the SUV, powered by Nissan's e-Power hybrid system, available with five or seven seats and with two- or all-wheel drive. It costs from under €50,000.

Dacia Ireland has a spacious stand at the 2026 National Ploughing Championships with a suitably outdoorsy theme. Apparently all anyone wants to know is how much the Dacia Duster and Bigster SUVs can tow (up to 1,500kg is the answer), but Shane was taken by the Sleep Pack on display in the Duster. It was a long day after all...

It's running a competition to win a signed jersey and tickets to an international match. All you have to do is guess how many footballs it has crammed into the boot of the new Nissan Leaf.

Shane was on Newstalk today, this time talking about the real cost of running a car

Our editor, Shane, was on air live with Ciara Kelly today on Newstalk's The Hard Shoulder programme, to discuss the findings of a new ESRI study, which showed that Irish motorists massively underestimate the full cost of running a car. It's an interesting piece of research, reckons Shane, but it was funded by the Department of Transport and seems to be designed to encourage motorists to think about alternatives. Complete Car visited the Nissan Ireland stand at the 2026 National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Co. Offaly today. Nissan brought along the whole lineup, including examples of the new Nissan Micra and Leaf, the hybrid-powered Juke, a few Qashqais, some vans and even an Irish debut, the Nissan X-Trail N-Trek.

Hedley Studios shrinks Porsche 550 Spyder to 80 per cent

Hedley Studios in the UK has teamed up with Porsche to create the 550 J, an 80 per cent-scale electric reinterpretation of the 550 Spyder. Hand-built in England, it measures 2.9 metres long, weighs about 330kg and uses an 8kW motor (11hp) for a 64km/h top speed and 48km range. An ‘RS Pack’ raises power output to 16kW and max speed to 80km/h, while adding drilled brakes and adjustable dampers. Just 250 will be made, but the 550 J is not road legal. Costs over €80,000.
