The Connolly Group is investing €1 million in a major new showroom for Volvo Cars Sligo. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the new showroom for Volvo in the west is part of an expansion alongside Connolly’s existing — and highly successful — Volvo Cars location in Ballybrit, in Galway, which opened in 2023.

How many jobs are coming with this new Volvo Cars Sligo showroom?

Connolly’s operations already employ some 335 people across its various outlets in the west and north-west of Ireland, and 85 of those are already in the Sligo area. Co-owner and Director of Connolly Motor Group, Neil Connolly, said: “Connolly Motor Group is delighted to welcome Volvo customers to Sligo this month. Our €1 million investment in a new state-of-the-art showroom at our Collooney campus demonstrates our commitment not only to growing the Volvo brand in the region, but also to ensuring our customers receive a premium experience in keeping with Volvo’s high standards and international reputation. We look forward to welcoming customers to our temporary showroom in Collooney while work continues on our new permanent Volvo Cars facility.”

As Neil Connolly said, that temporary Volvo Cars Sligo showroom is located in Collooney, just south-west of Sligo town. It has already opened for business, with a special launch week kicking off this week, culminating in an open evening on Friday, 16 October from 6pm to 8pm, where guests can check out the new EX60 electric SUV and the newer XC60 long-range plug-in hybrid.

What’s Volvo Car Ireland’s official word on this?

Alan Cowley, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland, said: “We are delighted to reaffirm our partnership with Connolly Motor Group through Volvo Cars Sligo. The new dealership strengthens our presence in the North West and makes it easier for customers across the region to experience the Volvo brand at an exciting time for the company, as we continue to expand our range of electric and electrified vehicles. Connolly Motor Group has already demonstrated through Volvo Galway that it shares our commitment to delivering the high standards of service associated with the Volvo brand, and we look forward to building on that relationship in Sligo.”
