Mazda reveals Irish prices for CX-30

Mazda CX-30 crossover to start at €29,245.

Mazda Ireland has announced the prices for the new CX-30 crossover, which launches later this year for first deliveries in January.

Prices start at €29,245

The starting price for the new CX-30, featuring the base 122hp 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G petrol engine, will be €29,495. That makes it exactly the same price as a base CX-5, which is larger and arguably a more prestigious model.

Why? Well, we simply don't know, but it's most likely because Mazda wants to use the CX-30 to take on the likes of the Qashqai and Tucson, while it pushes the CX-5 more upmarket to become more of a Ford Kuga and Honda CR-V rival. That's a theory at any rate.

Radar cruise control standard on all models

So what do you get for your money? Well, you'll find a windscreen projecting head-up colour display, radar cruise control and LED headlights all as standard on every CX-30, continuing Mazda's long-standing tradition of being more expensive than, but also better equipped than, most of the competition.

There's also an Advanced Safety Pack option available on GT Sport models with the new SkyActiv-X engine, which includes a 360-degree view parking monitor, driver monitor that reads facial expressions for signs of fatigue and the latest semi-autonomous feature - Cruise and Traffic Support.

GS and GS-L cars feature 16-inch grey metallic wheels. While from GT grade onwards 18-inch wheels are standard: silver metallic on SkyActiv-G and SkyActiv-D with bright silver metallic on SkyActiv-X models.

New SkyActiv-X engine

As well as that base 122hp engine (which comes with mild hybrid technology), there's that new SkyActiv-X engine, which mixes diesel and petrol tech for improved fuel economy and lower emissions. That has 180hp and the same mild hybrid system. For more traditional buyers there's a new 1.8-litre diesel engine, with 116hp and some very impressive economy and emissions figures.

Other options will include a six-speed automatic transmission and a new 'i-Activ' four-wheel-drive system.

Prices run from that base of €29,245 to a high point of €43,115.

The first CX-30s will be in Mazda dealers in January.
