First look inside the new Skoda Scala hatchback.

What's the news?

Ahead of its official reveal in December, we get our first look at the interior of the new Skoda Scala. The effective replacement for the Rapid, the new Scala sees a shift upmarket for Skoda in this segment, and that reflects in both the design and quality of the interior. Also featuring on higher spec models will be a 10.25-inch digital instrument display that offers a number of different configurations including a night mode.

The freestanding touchscreen display measures 9.2 inches in its largest form, making it currently the largest of its kind in the segment. Its positioning on the dashboard leaves room for users to rest their wrist on when operating it should they wish. Many of the usual features are there including smartphone connectivity including wireless Apple CarPlay and support for Android Auto. In a bid to ensure the Scala will remain current in the coming years there will be USB C ports in the front and rear of the car.

A slender climate control unit is located on the centre console, while other controls for drive modes, the start/stop system and park assist functions are found in front of the gear selector.

Skoda's Head of Interior Design, Norbert Weber, said: "The new Skoda Scala is the first production model to feature our new interior concept, introducing an updated design language alongside new colours and materials. Its premiere in the Scala marks the beginning of a new brand identity for Skoda, which is as emotive as it is functional."
