That new platform brings with it a lower centre of gravity to the tune of 5mm, with associated benefits for handling and agility. Indeed, the platform has already debuted on the XV, while the next-generation Forester is also set to utilise the hardware.
Already on sale in other markets, the Impreza will most likely receive a similar interior treatment to its American and Japanese cousins. That means a new, centrally-mounted infotainment screen, as well as styling touches inside and out that should bring it in line with its competitors. Driver assist tech will take the form of Subaru's 'EyeSight' system, which promises emergency braking and adaptive cruise control as standard.
There's no official word on engine choices just yet, but you can expect some new additions to the outgoing offerings. The car will get its full reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 12 September, and we'll bring you all the details as soon as we get them.
