The Kona will have Hyundai's 'Cascading Grille' and double-decker headlights (ah, so it IS a Juke rival, then) and Hyundai says that it will be "a true SUV" with a raised-up driving position, and optional four-wheel drive.
In spite of this, Hyundai has been spotted testing the Kona at the Nurburgring, so it should be at least decent to drive too. Underneath, it's related to the i20 and will also platform-share with an upcoming Kia small SUV, the Stonic.
This is no idly-introduced new model either - Hyundai wants the Kona to really drive its sales in Europe up, as it has stated an ambition to be the biggest-selling Asian car maker in Europe by 2021 - quite an ambition when the likes of Toyota, Nissan, and Honda lie in its path.
And the name? In what is looking like a bumper week for weird car names (Skoda Karoq, anyone?) the name Kona comes from a district of Hawaii. Brightly coloured shirts and grass skirts at the ready for the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, so...
