Zagato reveals bespoke Aston Martin Shooting Brake

Aston Virage-based conversion is the one-off load lugger you want.

Over the weekend Aston Martin and Italian design house Zagato unveiled the third member of the Aston Martin Centennial Trilogy, the Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake Zagato.

Following in the footsteps of the DB9 Spider Zagato Centennial and DBS Coupé Zagato Centennial, the Virage Shooting Brake is a one-off commission for a wealthy European collector.

Unveiled at the very posh sounding Chantilly Art and Elegance show in France, the Shooting Brake uses a Virage coupé as its base with Zagato extending the roofline to create the body style much loved by journalists. Zagato also revised the rear lights, reshaped the side skirts and rear bumper and fitted new exhaust pipes.

According to the official bumf the styling is a "A modern interpretation with design cues of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Volante of the mid 80s," and apparently the Shooting Brake "creates surprise and fascination with a new shape while maintaining Zagato and Aston Martin's core design values."

Zagato's usual 'double-bubble' roof is present and correct, though it is less pronounced than on previous Aston Martins.

Anything else?
No official word on what engine powers the Shooting Brake, but considering the Virage lineage we have to guess it uses the venerable 490hp 6.0-litre V12.
