Toyota Ireland is aiming to copper-fasten its position at the top of the Irish new car sales charts with two key new models arriving in the run up to the January 271 registration period. The first of those is the latest version of the RAV4 plug-in hybrid.

I thought the RAV4 PHEV was already on sale

Nope, that was the regular hybrid version, but now the plug-in model is finally here and it’s packing the same 1,000,000-kilometre warranty for its big hybrid battery (yes, that’s one million and no it’s not a typo, and it also runs for up to 15 years as long you keep the RAV serviced at a main Toyota dealer).

Plug that in and it should be good for up to 137km of electric-only driving. We’ve not had the chance to drive this new RAV4 PHEV in Ireland just yet (although we have driven it in left-hand-drive form — see more on that here) but the old one was easily capable of 5.3 litres per 100km average fuel consumption even on a depleted main battery.

Given that the regular hybrid RAV4 has been a sell-out success, Toyota will be pinning big hopes on this plug-in-hybrid model.

How much is it, though?

Actually, the new plug-in hybrid RAV4 is better value than it used to be, with a starting price of €47,790, and you can have it on 6.9 per cent APR finance too.

You mentioned two key new models…

Yes, the other major new Toyota arrival is the updated version of the Yaris Cross hybrid, which gets a new-look front end with a distinctive honeycomb grille rather like that of the RAV4 actually…

It gets new paint options as well, including Precious Bronze and Celestite Grey, and some tech upgrades for the 12.3-inch digital cockpit, and the 10.5-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Prices start from €33,575, there’s 6.4 per cent interest finance, or you can have a €750 trade-in booster for January orders.

Any other Toyota offers knocking about?

Yes indeed. You can also have the Toyota Aygo X or Yaris with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €750; the three body styles of Toyota Corolla (hatchback, Touring Sports estate and saloon) with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €1,250; and the Toyota Corolla Cross with APR from 6.9 per cent.

What if I don’t want a Corolla?

Fret not, there are other cars available. You could have the Toyota C-HR Hybrid with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €1,500; the electric Toyota C-HR+ with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €2,000; the also-electric Toyota bZ with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €1,250; the roomier Toyota bZ Touring with APR from 5.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €1,000; or the gorgeous Toyota Prius with APR from 3.9 per cent or a trade-in booster up to €2,500.

Is there a limited time on these offers?

For now, yes (although these kinds of offers often get extended). They’re all available through your local Toyota dealer from 17-31 of October.

Speaking about the launch of Toyota’s 271 range, Zoë Bradley, Head of Marketing Communications and Corporate Affairs at Toyota Ireland, said:

“Irish motorists are looking for greater flexibility when it comes to electrified driving, and that's exactly what the new RAV4 Plug-In Hybrid delivers. It combines the benefits of everyday electric driving with the reassurance and convenience people expect from Toyota.

“What's particularly exciting about our 271 range is the breadth of choice available. Whether customers are taking their first step into hybrid technology, considering a plug-in hybrid or ready to move to a fully electric vehicle, Toyota now has a solution to suit a wide range of driving needs.

“With our 271 Test Drive Event taking place at Toyota dealerships nationwide from October 17th  to 31st, customers can experience our range for themselves, while also taking advantage of offers including trade-in boosters of up to €2,500 or finance APR from as low as 3.9 per cent.

“It's a great opportunity for our customers to find the Toyota that best suits their needs and explore the finance options available to them.”
