The all-new, fully electric Renault Twingo has been awarded the Ecobest 2026 accolade by Autobest. The European jury, which includes Complete Car's Dave Humphreys, representing Ireland, chose the Twingo E-Tech Electric for its strong contribution to highly accessible and practical urban electromobility.

Set to launch in Ireland towards the end of 2026, the Renault Twingo E-Tech Electric is a compact five-door city car designed from the ground up as an EV. Drawing heavily from the characterful design of the original first-generation model, the new Twingo focuses on simplicity and real-world driving needs.
Top award for Polestar's Live Land Guidance with Google Maps
Autobest's 2026 Smartbest award goes to Polestar for its integration of Google Maps' Live Lane Guidance directly into the driver's display on the Polestar 4. The 10.2-inch instrument display uses AI and camera data to highlight the correct lanes during navigation.

This application is especially useful in complex traffic settings such as highway merges, multi-lane exits and busy urban routes. It helps the driver make safer, more confident decisions in real time by offering a clearer visual aid while driving.
The technology has been rolled out initially in Sweden and the United States, ahead of deployment in other markets.
Autobest now includes a public vote
One of the innovations for Autobest in 2026 is the introduction of public voting to help determine the overall winner. The Autobest Conquest 2026 finalists are:

MG S5 EV
Renault 4 E-Tech Electric
Members of the public will also be able to cast their vote for the following categories:

The public vote accounts for 50 per cent of the final result. Votes can be cast on www.autobest.org, and the winners will be announced on 28 March live on YouTube.
