MG will unveil two new electric vehicles and showcase two design concepts at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from 10-13 July in West Sussex, England.
What is MG bringing to Goodwood this year?
Visitors to the popular motorsport and car culture event will get a first look at two new MG electric vehicles, which will be revealed at 11am on Thursday, 10 July. Though MG hasn't confirmed any further details, it's widely expected that one of the cars will be a premium SUV to compete against the Tesla Model Y.
One of the new EVs will take on the iconic Goodwood hill climb.
Also returning to the famous hill is the MG EX4, which will sport a striking new livery especially created for the event, paying homage to the MG Metro 6R4.
What design concepts are on show?
The first is the Cyberster Black, which is a new version of the electric two-seat convertible. The Cyberster Black is finished in glossy black with chrome accents and a dark interior.
The second design concept is called Cyber X taking the form of a compact electric city car with short overhangs, a low-slung shape and pop-up headlights.
It's aimed at buyers seeking something fun, futuristic and suitable for city driving. The concept was developed by MG's Vice President of Design, Jozef Kaban, and reflects the brand's push to create more distinctive and characterful EVs, and to highlight the potential of the 'Cyber' sub-brand.
Talking about the models, Kaban said: “We're looking forward to introducing the original Cyber X and elegant Cyberster Black. MG has a tradition of creating emotive cars that stand out from the crowd and we're passionate about continuing this work as well as exploring how we might take the brand in some new, unexpected directions.”
Where can I see these models?
MG will have two areas at the Goodwood festival. The main stand will feature its current models, including the MG5 EV estate and MG HS SUV, while the other, a more interactive space, will feature the MG4 XPower high-performance electric hatchback.
We will bring you the full details of MG's two new production EVs as soon as they are revealed at the event on 10 July.
