Strong sales for Renault Group in June Strong sales for Renault Group in June
The Renault Group secured strong sales in June with a 19.5 per cent market share.

The Renault Group (that's Renault and Dacia combined) scooped a 19.5 per cent share of the Irish car and van market in June and has also had a good start to the "222" sales period holding an 8.3 per cent market share, putting it in fourth place for the month so far.

Renault was the second best-selling car brand in Ireland in June behind Hyundai, with 260 units registered for the month. Dacia took fifth place behind Toyota and Volkswagen with total sales of 159 cars in June. The Renault Arkana was Ireland's second best-selling car overall last month, the company has shifted 126 of them, with Dacia's new seven-seater Jogger taking third place with 93 units registered. Also in the top ten were the Renault Kadjar (75 units), Renault Clio (53) and Dacia Sandero (48).

Strong segment performances

Those figures mean that in the C-SUV segment (which also includes the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Qashqai), the Arkana came in second place in June behind the Tucson, a position it also holds for the year-to-date. In the B-segment (which includes the Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Polo) in June, the Clio came in second behind the Toyota Yaris, with the Dacia Sandero in third place.

In the van market, Renault finished with a 19.1 per cent market share last month, the mid-sized Trafic finishing not just at number one in its segment in June but becoming the overall best-selling van in the country last month.

Good stock volumes

"It's been a really good start to the new 222 registration period, and we are coming from a strong June for the Group with a 19.5 per cent combined market share and a number of models on the best-selling podium last month," said Patrick Magee, Country Operations Director at Renault Group Ireland.

"With the arrival of good stock volumes in June and further volumes arriving in July and August we are in a good position for the 222-registration period."

"Looking forward we are excited to launch our all new Mégane E-Tech 100 per cent electric in a few months' time and also to the arrival of all new Kangoo E-Tech van".
