Should I buy a VW Passat or Tiguan in 2027? Need a diesel.

The question
I'm looking at either the 2027 VW Passat Estate R-Line or Tiguan R-Line, and I want a diesel. Which is best?

Hi Fergal,
Our preference would definitely be for the Passat, without hesitation. It’s nicer to drive than the Tiguan, smoother on the road and it’s also a little more efficient when using the same engine, so your fuel and tax bills will be lower.
On top of all that, the Passat has a larger boot, can hold more when all seats are folded and, as an extra bonus, is usefully more affordable to buy.
