Audi Q3 revealed

Four engines will be offered in new Audi Q3, including 140hp 2.0-litre TDI.

Audi has released the first images of its new Q3 SUV, which is making its debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next week (April 18).

The new Q3 is set to go on sale here in Ireland before the end of the year, with a price tag of around €33,000.

The new Q3 sits on the same platform as the Volkswagen Tiguan and is quite light for an SUV, with the basic version weighing less than 1,500kg. That's thanks in part to the use of aluminium in the bonnet and tailgate.

There will be four different engines offered in the Q3 initially. The petrol units are a 170hp 2.0-litre turbo with either front- or four-wheel drive, and a 211hp version with four-wheel drive.

The first diesel to be offered will be a 177hp unit, but this will be followed by the engine that will make up the majority of sales in Ireland, the 2.0-litre TDI with 140hp. The front-wheel drive 140hp diesel will use 5.2 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

Audi's Q3 is comparible in size to the Tiguan, with similar dimensions and 460 litres of luggage space, which can expand out to 1,365 litres.

Full Irish price and specification details for the Q3 will be released at a later date.
