There's a lot of hype surrounding the reinvented Citroen 2CV, most of it admittedly coming from the French company itself. We've compiled all the teaser pics from Citroen's Instagram account into one gallery so you can see how much inspiration the new EV is taking from the original. Quite a bit, it would seem. World debut at the Paris Motor Show.
While sales/registration figures from the UK market are rarely of interest to Irish buyers, we do keep an eye on them, and last month’s make for interesting reading. The Jaecoo 7 topped the charts for new registrations for the month and it’s second only to the Ford Puma in the UK for the year to date. Why should we care? Dave was among the few journalists that travelled to Amsterdam for an early look at the 2027 Hyundai Tucson SUV. It's an all-new car, replacing one of the best-selling models in Ireland. Hybrid and plug-in-hybrid power will be offered, but the big news is the increase in space and the daring exterior design. Rolls-Royce is part of the BMW Group so it should be of no surprise that sharing of ideas happens. The latest 7 Series, for example, uses at least three things found on Rolls-Royce cars. First up, the tyres have a sound-absorbing foam insert. Secondly, the Panoramic Vision can display 'art' of sorts, a bit like the Rolls-Royce Phantom's gallery feature. Finally, the 7 Series can be fitted with auto doors, which can be opened and closed via the key, app or button. It has taken BYD quite some time to bring the updated version of the Atto 3 – called simply the Atto 3 Evo – to Ireland, but it’s here now and available in rear-wheel-drive Design format or as the all-wheel-drive Excellence. Pricing is competitive, starting at just €40,530, and that entry-level car gets a quoted range of 510 kilometres. Link below to our overhauled review of the car.
Fiat has previewed a new concept car called Multiplay, due to be shown at the Paris Motor Show later this month. Inspired by Multipla models of the 1950s and late 1990s, it’s described as a vehicle that can be converted from pick-up to SUV in “just a few moments” and we’re expected a six-seat layout, too. Fiat says the concept explores affordable family mobility and could influence future production models. Also making their public debut in Paris are the Fiat Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback.
Shane and Dave attended the annual Business Post Sustainability Awards last night in their capacity as judges. Shane awarded BMW the top prize for OEM of the Year (Passenger Vehicles), while Dave handed over the trophy to Ford for OEM of the Year (Commercial Vehicles). Congratulations to all the winners.
