Though we've had a good look around the new Dacia Striker already, and we're driving it very soon, the Paris Motor Show represents the first time members of the public can get up close and personal with the car. It's a hybrid-powered family car that shares a lot with the Dacia Bigster. And we expect it to do very well when it arrives in Ireland next year.
One of our most-read news stories of last week was that of the new Xpeng G9L, a new seven-seat, all-electric SUV that is expected to come to Ireland to top the Chinese marque's lineup next year. It made its public debut at this week's Paris Motor Show.
Aion is yet another Chinese car brand. It has already launched in the UK with the Aion V SUV and the Aion UT hatchback. Now there's a new crossover joining the ranks, the Aion UT Cross. It made its world debut at the Paris Motor Show this morning. We still don't know if the Aion marque will come to Ireland, however.
While doing the rounds at the Paris Motor Show media day this morning, Dave spotted the BYD Atto 8 on the Chinese firm's stand. It's a new seven-seat SUV and its presence at the event suggests this is going on sale in Europe, which means there's a good chance it will come to the Irish market as well. Though this model is sold in some markets as a plug-in hybrid (or 'Super Hybrid' if you speak BYD marketing), this vehicle is a fully electric variant.
Both Dave and Matt are attending the opening day of the Paris Motor Show today and it's already one of the best motor shows in years thanks in part to the unveiling of a slew of concept cars from the Stellantis Group. This morning, Renault released full details and all of its images of the new E-Space concept car, for all the world, a preview to an electric MPV inspired by the original Renault Espace might look. Its exterior design is cool and it gets the all-important versatile interior. But we're glad to see that, along with touchscreens everywhere you look, it gets good old-fashioned family entertainment on board as well, in the form of an integrated Connect 4 game. Magnifique!
Alfa Romeo has released a few teaser images of its new Cuorerosso concept car ahead of its unveiling on the eve of the Paris Motor Show tonight (11 October). Created by the company's Centro Stile design team in Turin, Cuorerosso is said to explore the future of Alfa Romeo design. Glimpses of the exterior and interior have been revealed, though tech details remain under wraps. Alfa Romeo says the concept is neither a preview of a production model nor simply a styling exercise, instead describing it as a design manifesto.
The gorgeous JAS Tensei is a modern reinterpretation of the original mid-engined Honda NSX with design by Pininfarina, engineering by JAS Motorsport and a howling V6 engine by JUDD Power. It gets a carbon-fibre body and will be limited to just 35 units. Today isn’t the first time we’ve seen it, but that doesn’t make the revealing of a blue example any less exciting. And visitors to next week’s Paris Motor Show can be among the first in the world to see this car in person. Time to look for cheap flights over to France we think…
