See and hear the Bugatti Chiron on this year's Cannonball Ireland

A 1,500hp Bugatti Chiron Sport will make its Cannonball Ireland debut when the event returns from September 11-13. The quad-turbo W16 hypercar will headline a convoy of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens and other exotica travelling through Wicklow, Tullamore, Limerick, Cork and Kilkenny. Cannonball has raised more than €2.28 million for Irish children’s charities to date, with Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland its official partner for 2026, supporting families of seriously ill children receiving hospital treatment.

Bugatti talks us through the process of making its V16 Tourbillon sound special

Bugatti has released the latest episode of its ‘A New Era’ video series, this time focusing on the sound of the Tourbillon’s naturally aspirated V16 engine. Engineers explain how thousands of simulations helped shape its intake and exhaust note, while retaining the slightly raw character associated with Bugatti’s engines. There’s no synthesised sound through the speakers, either: what you hear is entirely mechanical. The film also follows the Tourbillon through its final noise homologation testing, before letting the 9,000rpm V16 do most of the talking. TURN IT UP.

Spectacular one-off Bugatti Destrier in pics

Using the track-only Bolide hypercar as a basis, the Bugatti Destrier is a one-off, roadworthy creation as part of the Bugatti Programme Solitaire. It's less than a metre tall, packs a 1,600hp quad-turbo W16 engine and makes its public debut at the 2026 Monterey Car Week in the US. It would probably be cheaper to fix the HSE than buy one. Not that you could even if you wanted to (in both cases).
