Sheils Motor Group acquires Motorpark Galway

What's the news?

The Sheils Motor Group has confirmed that is has agreed to acquire Motorpark Galway. Currently, 40 people are employed by Sheils Motor Group in Clare and Limerick, and that figure is expected to increase to 80 as part of the Galway investment.

Commenting on the acquisition, Thomas Sheils, Managing Director said: 'I am delighted to confirm that we have reached an agreement to acquire Motorpark Galway, one of the most respected firms in the Irish motor industry. We look forward to welcoming the team at Motorpark Galway to the Sheils Motor Group. Ford and Honda are tremendous brands, and I am very excited about the future prospects for the expanded group."

Eddie Rynne, Director and General Manager of Sheils Motor Group, added: "As a result of this expansion into Galway City and County, Sheils Motor Group will now be able to avail of additional volume-related discounts which will ensure that even better deals will be available for all Sheils customers going forward."

Sheils Motor Group is based in Ennis, Co. Clare and has a long history in the motor trade. In 1925 it was appointed as a main Ford dealer, and the company has gone on to be one of the most successful companies in the Irish motor trade. In 2013 it was appointed as the main Honda dealer for Galway.
