Dublin Lord Mayor receives new Volvo

What's the news?

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Brendan Carr, has taken delivery of a new Volvo S90 as the mayoral car, continuing a long-running tradition that sees a Volvo carry the coveted '1' registration plate. It has become somewhat of a tradition and this year that 171 D 1 plate will be seen attached to a range-topping Volvo S90 Inscription D4 Automatic. It is the sixth year that Volvo Car Ireland has provided a car to the Lord Mayor.

Upon delivery of the new Volvo S90 to the Mansion House, Deirdre Ni Raghallaigh from the Office of the Lord Mayor commented: "On behalf of Lord Mayor Brendan Carr and Dublin City Council, I would like to thank Volvo Cars Ireland Limited for providing the Lord Mayor for the sixth successive year with a Volvo S90 D4 Inscription as the official mayoral car for 2017.  We have been very pleased with the high specification of the Lord Mayor's Cars and in particular the exceptional level of safety equipment, economical fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.  It also has a very high reputation for safety, in particular, city safety.  We are delighted with our ongoing association with Volvo, and very much appreciate Volvo's sponsorship of the Lord Mayor's car and the provision of such a stylish and suitable car to assist the Lord Mayor in carrying out his many and varied official functions."

Adrian Yeates, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland, said: "We are delighted to continue to support the work of the Lord Mayor of Dublin in this way. The new Volvo S90 is as stylish as it is safe and the Lord Mayor will no doubt find it a pleasure to travel in. The D4 engine is economical and has low Co2 emissions. The Volvo S90 D4 is a visible endorsement of the unique combination of executive comfort, safety and the very low environmental impact that the Volvo range provides."
