Pat Shortt - he of Father Ted, D'Unbelievables, and The Guard fame - has become a Peugeot ambassador in partnership with Slattery's Garage in Pukane, near Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
Wait, you mean this is a celebrity story about an actual real celebrity?
It certainly is. Shortt - described as a comedian, actor, and 'Proud Tipperary native' - will be driving around in a new Peugeot 3008 Hybrid as he circles the country for live gigs and personal appearances.
Shortt himself said: "I'm delighted to be teaming up with Slatterys Garage in Puckane. They're a fantastic local business with a great reputation and a long history in the area. The Peugeot 3008 is some machine - comfortable, stylish and perfect for all the travelling I do around the country for shows.”
So, no jokes about the car?

No, we felt that there was an opportunity for some Father Ted-style shenanigans, but sadly, that was not to be the case.
Slattery's Garage, which has been going for some 55 years, said that the collaboration with Shortt was a natural fit. Andrew Slattery, Dealer Principal of Slatterys Garage, said: "Pat is one of Ireland's most recognisable and well-loved personalities and, like ourselves, he has strong roots in the local community. We are delighted to welcome him as an ambassador for Slatterys Garage and Peugeot. The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid combines striking design, comfort and impressive efficiency, and we're sure Pat will enjoy every mile behind the wheel.”
As well as driving the car, Shortt will be involved in a number of promotional activities for the dealership throughout the year, including social media content and local campaigns highlighting the Peugeot range.
Is this where we can start trotting out the Father Ted quotes?
Go on then…
