Polestar, the electric and high-performance sister brand to Volvo, is launching a new connected telematics system, which is designed to help company car fleet managers with their work.
What does the telematics system do?
According to Polestar, this new software “provides real-time data, actionable insights, and seamless integration with leading fleet management platforms - without the need for additional hardware or installation fees.”
Basically, it helps fleet managers to keep an eye on mileage covered, charging times and costs, and servicing schedules.
Has Polestar developed this itself?
No, Polestar has worked with strategic partners Echoes, Geotab, and High Mobility to create the new telematics software, and says that it's been designed to: “optimise efficiency through live vehicle data and usage analytics, reduce operational costs with smarter planning and predictive insights, and enhance customer experience via a seamless, connected ecosystem.”
Is Polestar already a significant company car player?
Yes, it is. Polestar's focus on all-electric models makes the brand an obvious choice for company car user-choosers looking to trim their BIK bills. “Given our extensive fleet customer base, this marks a major milestone for Polestar and a big step forward for our customers,” says Ramon Lingen, Head of Global Fleet and Pre-owned. “Polestar Fleet Telematics combines sustainability with intelligence - empowering operators to make smarter, data-driven decisions that benefit both their business and the planet.”
Is this system designed for smaller businesses?
Not just for them, but certainly built-in telematics like this make it much easier for small-to-medium businesses looking to manage their fleets. The Polestar system, though, uses “a scalable architecture for multi-market deployment” so it's just as much use to larger companies such as “global fleet operators.”
