Western Garages bought by Pierse Group

The Pierse Group has acquired Ennis-based Western Garages, as part of its expansion into Ireland's western counties. Western Garages has been a Volkswagen main dealer since 1956 and currently employs 20 staff members. The buy-out by Pierse Group is being touted as one of the most important business deals in 2022 for County Clare.

Best-seller in Clare

The significance of the deal is underlined by the fact that in 2020, Volkswagen was the biggest-selling car brand in Clare, while in 2021 and so far in 2022 the Volkswagen ID.4 has been the best-selling electric vehicle in the County.

Well-versed in Volkswagen

Pierse Group is well-versed in Volkswagen. The company began trading as Pierse Motors in 1980, established by twin brothers Gerry and Arthur Pierse. Today, the still-family-owned business operates a Volkswagen main dealer in Tipperary town, on the Limerick Road, which employs 35 people.

'Continue our tradition'

Justin Wall and Brendan J Wall of Western Garages commented: "We would like to sincerely thank our customers for their loyalty and custom over the past 66 years. The success of Western Garages would not have been possible without the loyalty of our customers. We have a team of exceptional staff, who are trained to the highest standards and will continue to work with the Pierse Motor Group and be on hand to offer their expertise to customers from 22nd of June 2022. We are confident that the Pierse Motor Group will continue our tradition, offering excellence in sales and service for the Volkswagen brand in Clare."

Gary Pierse, Managing Director of the Pierse Motor Group also commented: "We would like to welcome the Western Garages staff and customers to the Pierse Motor Group. We are excited with the prospects of representing the Volkswagen brand in Clare and are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship."
