Friday Find 5th June 2015

So, our airwaves (do websites have airways?) have been abuzz this week with the launch of the new Honda Civic Type-R, and you can read Kyle Fortune's road test of the blistering new hot hatch here. What about the old one though? It's a rare car in Ireland - having been launched into the teeth of the recession rather damaged its sales chances - but you can track them down and for surprisingly small money.

We've found one, made in 2007 (so you're on the older, slightly cheaper tax system) for just €8,995 for cash (or €9,995 with a trade-in). It has rather high mileage for a Type-R, at 159,000km, but these cars are astonishingly reliable and it's coming with a warranty. Nowhere near so fast as the new 310hp model, this 198hp version is more of an every-day car, pootling happily about in the manner of any Civic. Until you pass the VTEC line on the rev counter and all holy hell breaks loose and it starts heading for the horizon like a hatchback F1 car... Brilliant car. Snap it up while you can.

We've been rather stoked up with Americana lately, ever since first driving the rather lovely new Ford Mustang, so here's a classified that's grabbed our attention.

A 1975 Chevrolet Camaro, in subtle black, described as "well looked after and in perfect condition" and on for just €12,000. That's less than the price of a new Skoda Fabia for a proper American muscle car, with the classic 5.7-litre small block V8 engine. Want it. Want it badly.
