Spotted the road test of the gorgeous new Jaguar XE saloon on the CompleteCar.ie site this week? Thought so. Feeling jealous and fancying a Jag all of your very own, but want to keep the costs down? Thought so too... How about this - an early 2.2-litre diesel XF saloon? It's a 2012 in Luxury Sport, so there are tonnes of toys to play with and the road tax bill won't kill you either. Jaguar XFs are well-built, reliable, and superb to drive, and this one's on for just €29,950, or about the price of a new Mondeo.

Of course, it is all well and good shopping for Jags and joining the G&T set, but for most of us, it is all about getting the maximum amount of car for the minimum amount of cash and for that, you really need a Dacia. The Duster crossover was the first Dacia to arrive on Irish shores and it's pretty much still the best. We found a tidy top-spec model (air con and Bluetooth) for just €13,950. Therefore, you can have a rugged, spacious SUV for the same price as a new Skoda Fabia. Not bad for not much.
