Three Alfa Romeos for the Alfisti

Three Alfa Romeos for the Alfisti

Published on May 25, 2011

They say that you aren’t a real petrol head until you have owned an Alfa Romeo. Well here is three of their finest work for not that much money.

2006 Alfa Romeo Brera 3.2 V6 €10,000

?

Here is a car that once upon a time would have set you back around €50,000 and now you can have it for a fifth of that and this one in particular has covered just 36,600 miles in its short life. With 260hp, this Brera is not short of poke and it has four-wheel drive too, which means that all of this power is put to the floor. This car also comes fully loaded with equipment, everything from air conditioning, big alloy wheels, to climate control, cruise control and leather upholstery. It is incredible that you can get this much car for this much money. This is a very engaging car to drive, although not likely to be trouble free, but then that is the joy of Alfa!

2006 Alfa Romeo GT Coup? JTD €7,500

?

Many commentators reckon that the Brera was pretty, but not as pretty as the GT Coup?, which was based on the older Alfa Romeo 156. This stunning car in later years came available with the firm’s excellent 1.9-litre JTD engine that was good for 150hp and this engine is not only powerful, but frugal too. Here is a car that has done 80,000 miles and is fully loaded with equipment, everything from climate control, to cruise control and sports suspension as well as red leather upholstery, which is a perfect match for the gunmetal grey paintwork. This is a delightful car.

2006 Alfa Romeo 159 JTS €9,900

?

This superb saloon is in an Alfa Romeo dealership in Cork city (Lee Garages) and comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine, which won’t make it that popular these days, but as you can see from the price (which has been reduced) it makes it something of a bargain. The 159 was the replacement for the much-loved, but often much-cursed 156 and it is an infinitely better car that just really didn’t reach many owners. As a second-hand buy, this one with just 29,079 miles on the clock is a steal, although you would want to see a full service history as without that you would be snookered.
