Xpeng is yet another new Chinese arrival to the Irish market, but while it might be unfamiliar, it’s being imported here by a safe pair of hands - Motor Distributors Limited, which has been Ireland’s Mercedes importer for decades, and which also looks after BYD and Smart. Xpeng will initially launch in Ireland with the G6 SUV, basically a head-on rival for the Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4. It’ll come in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive high-performance forms, and has a classy, minimalist interior that’s unsurprisingly big on screens. Will it be able to rival the big-selling Tesla? We’ll find out very soon.
