Volvo EC40

Volvo EC40

The Volvo EC40 is an all-electric SUV-coupe with a long range.

The original C40 Recharge was Volvo's first exclusively electric car, and it was a highly competent effort. It drives well and the interior is a lovely place to be. Now renamed as the EC40, to slot into the range with models such as the EX30 and EX90, the EC40 feels like a well-finished premium product, though in dual-motor form, it's priced like one too. The recently updated rear-wheel-drive layout has improved efficiency, and you can still have the powerful four-wheel-drive two-motor version, as well as an optional larger battery that for the first time pushes the range north of 500km.
