BYD Atto 3
BYD's first car in Ireland was the quietly competent Atto 3 crossover.
The first Irish arrival from the massive BYD group (yes, it stands for Build Your Dreams and, yes, it overtook Tesla as the biggest maker of EVs in 2022) is this, the relatively quiet-looking Atto 3. A mid-size crossover, it’s sized and priced roughly between the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4. It comes with a high-tech ‘Blade’ battery made by BYD itself, which gives a fairly realistic 420km range. The exterior style is a bit bland, but the cabin is almost wild with high-back bucket seats, a rotating screen and a drive selector that looks like an Airbus throttle lever. It’s good value and well equipped.
