Cupra testers' notes
Shane is enjoying the ESC Sport setting in the Cupra Born VZ this week
With all the hype around the (admittedly excellent) Cupra Raval EV, it would be easy to forget that the Born is still available. And it's a notably polished offering.
Shane has a VZ example on test this week in luscious 'Forest Green' but he's more excited by the discovery that using the ESC Sport setting allows for even more fun at the wheel, while keeping the electronic safety net in place. Perfect for damp autumnal roads.
On the flip side, this car is proving remarkably efficient, too, averaging 15.4kWh/100km despite us enjoying its 326hp whenever possible...
We're at the Irish media launch of the excellent Cupra Raval EV today
We've been talking about the Cupra Raval for a long time now. We drive a prototype of the EV in Nov 2025, then the finished thing - in high-performance VZ spec - at the international media launch in Spain in May this year. Finally the car is in Ireland and we've had a chance to test the more affordable Endurance variant. Prices start at €23,495 for the 318km model, rising to €36,825 for the 225hp VZ. Cupra Ireland says initial orders have been brisk, and it expects to sell potentially,1,000 Ravals to customers next year. More on that to come, but do check out our detailed review.
