All-electric Lotus Evija hypercar gets snazzy animated configurator.

Lotus is planning on making sure that its limited-run, 2,000hp electric hypercar gets an appropriately exclusive buying experience.

Multi-million car needs a high-end shopping experience

The Evija (pronounced, so we are told, E-Vee-Yah) is going to be the most dramatic Lotus ever built, with searing performance thanks to four 500hp electric motors, one for each wheel. It'll be as bonkers expensive as it is bonkers fast, too - £2.04 million in the UK market, although at least if you're bringing one in here you'll get €5,000 knocked off by the SEAI...

At that kind of price, the experience of buying an Evija has to be a pretty good one, so Lotus has come up with a next-generation online car configurator so that customers can decide on their colours and spec in a far more interactive manner.

Instead of the simple slide-show of photos you get in most configurators, the Evija's is a flowing, video-like config, where the colours and trims change in real-time. The software has been developed from high-end gaming technology, and Lotus says that it: "allows the buyer to build and personalise their own car from the ground up and visualise it from every angle, inside and out."

Shows the car in real world environments

On top of that, the configurator can also place your built-up Evija into real environments and backgrounds, so that you can get a better idea of how it will look in the real world. When you've made all your choices, there's also a personalised 360-degree 'fly-through' video to show you the car in full.

Lotus has released a series of all-new images of the Evija captured from the configurator. They show a car set inside the Lotus Design studios at Hethel, UK - the global home of Lotus since 1966 - and finished in stunning Atomic Red with Carbon Black accent pack. They are accompanied by a new animation which additionally reveals the car in Solaris Yellow and Carbon Black.

Unique 'build-book' for each owner

Lotus says that the experience doesn't stop there; at each stage of the car's build, the owner will receive a 'unique gift' and at the end, there'll be a hand-crafted 'build-book' which will be presented along with the keys.

Simon Clare, Executive Director, Global Marketing, Lotus, said: "We know every customer journey will be unique and our highly experienced customer relations team is ready to support any requests. With state-of-the-art digital tools such as the new configurator, we can accommodate customer preferences and requirements from anywhere in the world at the touch of a button."
