Six possible themes for the super-rare Bentley Bacalar give owners an idea how to spec their motors.

With just 12 examples of the Bentley Bacalar to be built, you might think it surprising that Bentley itself - or, more specifically, its Mulliner division - has come up with six example specifications for the hyper-exclusive open-top.

'Personality and purpose'

The vehicles shown in these images are merely what customers could specify, not what they have chosen (as all 12 Bacalars have already been sold), and Maria Mulder, head of colour and trim and Bentley, said: "The six example specifications we have created each have their own personality and purpose, but what they share in common is that only Bacalar can reflect this level of personalisation and attention to detail. Regardless of your personal style, whether it be to spec your Bacalar with a bold Yellow Flame exterior paint synthesised with rice husk ash, or a more subtle Moss Green that reflects the car's heritage, or to develop your own artisan piping, or co-create a unique fabric blend, the Bacalar gives you these opportunities."

Bentley is using some ecologically sound items in the make up of the Bacalar, such as the aforementioned rich husk ash for the paintwork, as well as a fully bespoke fabric blend using centuries-old methods for the interior upholstery.

Randwick the star car

The six themes that Bentley has come up with are pretty tasty. First up is the Clerkenwell, which is said to 'typify the spirit' of the Brooklands racetrack in the UK, where Bentley had its most famous motorsport successes back in the early 20th century. To that end, the car is Moss Green on the outside with Cumbrian Green and Golden Oak hides, and a Honey Larch veneer wood trim. The Menlo is named after Menlo Park, in Palo Alto, California, and is signified by the bold blue colour of Cobalt with highlights in Cyber Yellow, all over a Beluga hide, Anthracite Alcantara and a Piano Black veneer for the dash. Staying in America, the Fulton takes its name from downtown Chicago's Fulton River District, and it's finished in Lacquer Red with a 5,000-year-old Open-Pore Riverwood finish for the dash.

Moving on, the Greenwich takes its name from the home of time and is New Grey on the outside with a Cricket Ball interior, contrasted by a Grey Tweed textile. The Brickell refers to the financial district of Miami and so it's quite flashy in Atom Silver with an interior branded 'concept Hyperactive'. Finally, the Randwick was the demonstration car for the Bacalar; it's the Yellow Flame paint contrasted by Gloss Black highlights, while the interior in Beluga hide and Grey Tweed is highlighted with flashes of Khamun accents - and the brightwork is all in Dark Bronze.

Design your own

If you think you're inspired by these themes from Mulliner and you could do better, then rejoice - Bentley is launching a design-your-own Bacalar competition on Twitter. Follow the company on @BentleyComms and you can download a blank template of both the Bacalar's exterior and interior, which you can then colour whichever way you so choose. The best designs send back to the Bentley Comms team will be judged by the marque's Design team, and then featured and highlighted on the Twitter channel.
