Just 125 examples of the Audi Abt RS7-R will be built, conversion kit costs €70,000.

So, you've recently lumped your (significant) pile of spare cash into the excellent Audi RS 7 Sportback, but for some reason you're not satisfied by 600hp, 800Nm and a 3.6-second 0-100km/h time; what do you do about it? Well, you might want to give Abt a call and sign up for one of the 125 RS7-R models the German tuning firm has cooked up, that's what.

740hp and 920Nm

Following on from Abt's recent announcement about its upgrades for the RS 4 Avant lands this RS7-R. It might have lost the space between the 'RS' and the '7' that Audi bestows upon it, but that extra 'R' in the Abt version's nameplate denotes quite stonking outputs of 740hp and 920Nm, figures achieved by Abt using its own turbochargers and intercooler, plus revised engine management. Audi says the regular RS 7 Sportback would achieve 304km/h flat out if it were derestricted, but if you choose the speed-limiter raise option then Abt has to peg the RS7-R to 320km/h maximum.

In order to try and corral this massive power, Abt also fits its own height-adjustable coilover suspension kit and anti-roll bars, while the High Performance HR22 alloys aren't just for show - they're to allow for the fitment of bigger tyres for increased grip. Underneath, the Abt exhaust system with quad exits (of 107mm diameter each) is fitted, to bring the noise to the Audi's 4.0-litre biturbo V8. A note here, though: in order to be able to upgrade from an RS 7 to an RS7-R, Abt requires that your Audi comes from the factory with the RS Dynamic Plus package, the RS Suspension Plus with Dynamic Ride Control, the Carbon/Black Gloss exterior styling package and also the door mirror caps finished in black too.

Two-year guarantee

Only 125 RS7-R kits will be available and each one requires the payment of €69,900, which includes installation, painting and (for its home market) TÜV approval. All the parts from with a two-year guarantee, in line with the original manufacturer's guarantee. Beyond the technical parts listed above, Abt obviously jazzes up the appearance of the RS7-R, with lots of gloss-finish carbon fibre and some red 'RS7-R' logos on the outside, while within there's another profusion of carbon fibre, plus various Abt-branded features and door sills bearing a '1 of 125' legend.
