Monstrous new supercar

Here is the second 2,000hp supercar of the week.

It started life as a Lamborghini concept from designers Daniel Chinchilla Ochoa and Alberto Fernandez, and now it's set to become a 2,000hp reality. Say hello to the Mostro Di-Potenza, or Monster Power as it's called in English.

Set to be built in the USA by 215 Racing, the Mostro will use a 9.4-litre V8 engine from GM. After 215 Racing has tuned the engine, it's good for 2,000hp and 2,712Nm of torque to dwarf the figures of the Bugatti Veyron and Lamborghini's new Aventador.

There is no data as yet from 215 Racing on acceleration or top speed, but the engine uses twin turbochargers and will drive the rear wheels only through a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Only 50 Mostro Di-Potenzas will be made and 215 Racing reckons it will produce two cars per month, with deliveries starting in mid-2012. If this sounds like the kind of car you need in your life, a $1,000 (€700) deposit secures your place in the queue, though you will need a further $949,000 (€663,000) to pay off the balance.
