Bez to sell his own Aston for charity

Aston Martin's boss will auction off his Rapide in aid of those affected by the Japanese earthquake.

Every nearly new Aston Martin Rapide is special, but this one is that little bit more exclusive as it's the property of Aston Martin's boss, Dr Ulrich Bez. He's decided to auction off his company car to help raise money for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster.

The car will be sold by Bonhams at auction on 21 May at an all-Aston Martin sale at the firm's Newport Pagnell Works Service. Dr Bez's Rapide is one of the very first made and carries the chassis number F00039 that shows it's an early right-hand drive model.

Interested buyers will note Dr Bez's car is finished in Concours Blue with Obsidian black leather interior. No price has been mentioned for the car by Aston Martin, but all proceeds will go to the charities providing aid in Japan.

Dr Bez said: "I hope this superb car will raise a substantial amount to help make a difference. Nobody could have failed to be moved by the recent events in Japan and we at Aston Martin are no exception. We have many friends in the region and we wanted to do something to help."
