New 610hp rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracan Evo is revealed.

Lamborghini has come up with its second take on the rear-wheel-drive Huracan, called the Evo RWD. Or, looked at another way, it's an Audi R8 RWS, only with more power and prestige.

Less power, less weight

The original Huracan, the LP610-4, had 610hp from its 5.2-litre V10 and four-wheel drive, hence the LP610-4. Lambo's first effort at a 2WD Huracan was based on the 610-4, only the company stripped out the front driveshafts and 30hp from the engine for the LP580-2. However, in early 2019, the Huracan went through its midlife update and became the 640hp/600Nm Evo, again with AWD.

So, if you're following all this, the Italian supercar company has kind of followed the formula of the LP580-2, only this time from a starting point with more power. This new Evo RWD has 30 fewer horses than the Evo AWD, with a 610hp output at 8,000rpm and 560Nm at 6,500rpm. Motive force, as ever, comes from the V10 engine, with the 1,389kg Evo RWD capable of 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 325km/h. This compares to the 33kg-heavier AWD model, which runs 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 325km/h.

Tweaks to the Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS), which brilliantly 'enhances oversteer by 30 per cent' in Corsa mode, and the Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) are bespoke to the Huracan Evo RWD, while it has the same aluminium and carbon-fibre construction as its AWD stablemate. A set of 19-inch Kari alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres sit in front of ventilated and cross-drilled steel brakes, with 20s and carbon-ceramic stoppers an option. Visually, the RWD is denoted by its own design of front splitter with vertical fins, plus a rear bumper in gloss black with a specific shape of diffuser. Ad Personam personalisation is available for the Huracan Evo RWD and a new colour, Giallo Belenus (yellow), has been developed with its own dedicated leather-and-Alcantara combo for the interior.

Driver-focused dynamics

The Huracan Evo RWD enhances the V10 Huracan line-up with a model appealing to brand newcomers as well as those seeking sublime driving fun."

Prices for Europe suggest a figure of around €160,000 for the Huracan Evo RWD, excluding local retail prices - so its 330g/km CO2 figure won't help much here, given our VRT and road tax. The first customers will take delivery of their RWD Evos in spring.
