Bold claims have been made for the car's performance including 0-100km/h in about three seconds, a sub six-second 0-160km/h time and top speed 'in excess of 320km/h'. Jaguar also promises official CO2 emissions of 99g/km and an all-electric range of nearly 50 kilometres.
For production the turbines of the concept car will be replaced by a small capacity, turbocharged petrol engine. Jaguar has said, however, that the Micro Turbine technology of the original C-X75 is part of the company's future. Drive goes to all four wheels with electric motors for the front and rear axles.
Jaguar has teamed up with Williams F1 who will provide technical support for the hybrid drive system. The Formula 1 team will also share its expertise in carbon composites and aerodynamics.
Production will be limited to 250 units. Well-off customers are promised that the C-X75 will set new standards in sales and after-sales service.
Jaguar's design director, Ian Callum, said of the C-X75 "This will be the finest looking and most innovative Jaguar ever produced. Even in the world of supercars, we can still produce the most beautiful."
