Mondello Fiesta series to raise money for MND

‘Fiestaval’ will see entry fees donated to motor neurone disease research.

What's the news?

Mondello Park will run a special Ford Fiesta racing weekend on July 13th and 14th, dubbed the 'Fiestaval' to help raise money for research into motor neurone disease. Sadly, longtime racer and team owner Sean Woods was recently diagnosed with MND, so the event will raise money for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA).

The weekend will include races for both the Keelan Construction Zetec Fiesta and the Dennings Cars Fiesta ST championship. There will also be a special race, in the mould of the old Hawthorn Trophy Race from the Phoenix Park Races days, whereby teams will be formed with one car from each Fiesta class in each, and they will race together, both gaining points for the overall team win.

Mondello Park will be donating the race entry fees from each team to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

In addition to this, there will be face painting, bouncy castles, a team "Fiesta Push" on the main straight at lunchtime Sunday, and a BBQ and Auction hosted by circuit commentator Leo Nulty at the Paddock Bar on Saturday evening.

Other classes to compete over the weekend are Formula Vee, Ginetta Junior Ireland, Irish Legends, ITCC, BOSS Ireland, Closed Wheel Libre and the visiting UK class CSCC Special Saloons and Modsports.
