Mazda CX-5 is go

Mazda has confirmed that the Minagi concept will go into production as the CX-5 crossover.

Visitors to the New York International Auto Show will be the first to see the Mazda CX-5 with its official name. Previously seen at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the CX-5 was then still being called the Minagi Concept.

Now fully production ready, the CX-5 will go on sale in Ireland in 2012. It will be the first Mazda to use the company's new "KODO - Soul of Motion" design theme and will also come with Mazda's new SkyActive engine and chassis technologies.

Although Mazda has confirmed the name and will show the Minagi concept at the New York show, the fully finished production CX-5 will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The SkyActive technologies for the CX-5 include a new range of fuel-efficient engines will low emissions, a lightweight body and improved transmissions and suspension.
