What's the news?

Ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, the Skoda Kamiq's interior has been revealed in this first official image. The crossover is an entirely new model for Skoda, and it completes the company's trio of SUVs. Despite being smaller than the Skoda Karoq, the new Kamiq will still accommodate a generous 400 litres of boot space, thanks to its design. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo capacity grows to 1,395 litres. A wheelbase of 2,651mm, which is almost the same as the larger Octavia, should bode well for rear passenger legroom, too.

The striking interior design echoes what we have already seen in the forthcoming Skoda Scala, and will offer lots of the latest in-car connectivity. Optionally, buyers will be able to specify the 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrumentation. As in the Scala, there is also the option of a large widescreen infotainment display that appears freestanding in the centre console. Below this is the climate controls and a wireless charging pad for compatible devices.

Anything else?

Skoda's designers have incorporated ambient lighting throughout the cabin, in copper, white or red. The seats will feature contrasting stitching and a fine microfibre, called Suedia, will be available to specify as an upholstery option. Other optional equipment will include rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel and heated windscreen for rapid defrosting on cold mornings.
