The 3.2-litre, five-cylinder turbodiesel engine is taken from the 4.5-tonne Transit Jumbo. The transplant puts 200hp and 470Nm at the driver's disposal.
Other parts of the specification are essentially the same as the production Transit SportVan. That includes bonnet stripes, a body kit and alloy wheels with 235/45 tyres under flared wheel arches.
Ford's tradition of unique, performance Transits started off with the 1971 'Supervan I'. Based on a Ford GT40, it was powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine. Two more Supervans were built, based around Cosworth racing engines. In 2000 the World Rally Transit featured a rally interior, roll cage and Duratorq diesel power.
The Transit SuperSportVan is currently taking centre stage on Ford's stand at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, England.
